Gone West is comprised of Colbie Caillat, Jason Reeves,
Nelly Joy and Justin Kawika Young who together have more than 5 billion combined streams. The release of their album follows a whirlwind year with the 2019 release of their EP Tides, which impacted immediately and earned 31.1 million streams for the project and reached No. 7 on the Billboard Heatseekers Album chart.
Gone West gave their first live performance onstage at The Grand Ole Opry just over a year ago and opened for country legends
Reba McEntire in 2019,
George Strait earlier this year, and will open for
Kenny Chesney in June. Canyons was recorded in the midst of extensive concert and radio tours along with the release of their Country Airplay top 30 debut single "What Could've Been" mid-last year, which Billboard called "Stunning". The song became the most added first week single by a debut artist last year and continues to grow in airplay and weekly chart moves. The band performed the track on the Today Show today.
After winning the Rising Star Award at the Billboard
Music Awards,
Colbie Caillat went on to earn two Grammy Awards while achieving 11 million album and 25 million singles sales worldwide. Justin Kawika Young is one of the most successful musicians to have emerged in his home state of Hawaii, where he hit No 1 on the state's singles charts 11 times. Texas-born and ACM and CMT nominated
Nelly Joy tasted country music stardom with the JaneDear Girls, for whom she co-wrote 10 of the tracks on the duo's debut album as well as songs covered by Big & Rich,
Kelly Clarkson. Her personal and musical partner multi-platinum and Grammy nominated songwriter Jason Reeves has a long history of writing with Caillat, including her chart-topping "Bubbly," as well penning songs with Demi Lovato,
Kenny Rogers and
Louis Tomlinson (One Direction). Inevitably they all wound up in Nashville, where it was clear at once that they had lots to say as a group, thus forming Gone West.
