Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ RCA) - The very first RIAA-certified Platinum country album was 1976's Wanted! The Outlaws, a now-classic RCA disc that featured Willie Nelson, Jessi Colter, Tompall Glaser, and Waylon Jennings. Now, the music of the legendary Jennings delivers another amazing first, as his 1980 No 1 single, 'Theme from The Dukes of Hazzard (Good Ol' Boys),' becomes the RIAA's first Platinum-certified country Mastertone, recognizing one million purchased ringtones.

On the certification, Sony BMG Nashville Chairman Joe Galante remarked, 'For a man whose music and character literally helped redefine country music, it's an incredible testament to the enduring nature of his talent that 31 years after he shared in the first Platinum country album, one of his hits delivers another million-selling first for a whole new generation.'

Written and performed by Jennings , the track had already earned a Gold Mastertone award when the RIAA launched the certification program last June, reflecting the immense popularity of ringtones that utilize the original recording, rather than a synthesized instrumental version of a hit song.

A Grammy-winning Country Music Hall of Fame legend, Jennings enjoyed a remarkable 100 chart hits throughout his career, including 53 Top 10s and 16 No 1 singles.
