NASHVILLE, TN. (Warner Music) -Katrina Elam is set to release her debut album October 5th and it's already evident that just like her first single 'No End in Sight,' there's no end in sight to her talents. As a first rate performer, not only does Katrina possess the vocal chops to belt out soaring notes, the emotion to drive a message home and the confidence to elicit a response, she is also a gifted songwriter who wrote the majority of tracks on her CD.

In fact, Katrina's songwriting abilities were the focus in Music City before she had even graduated high school. After hearing Katrina, Cris Lacy, A&R director at Warner/Chappell Music, one of Nashville's top publishing houses, signed her to a publishing contract at the age of 16. Katrina finished her high school education in Bray, Oklahoma, all the while traveling to Nashville for writing sessions. Upon graduation, she packed her things and set out alone to pursue her dream of becoming an established songwriter as well as a reputable recording artist.

By the time Katrina began recording her debut album for Universal South, Katrina and the A&R team had a difficult time narrowing down the choices. She co-wrote nine out of the eleven cuts and admits when it comes to writing a song, she knows exactly what she wants. With her first single 'No End in Sight' she looked to the events taking place in her life. 'I had been depressed about some issues going on in my life and I found myself thinking, there's no end in sight,' admitted Katrina. 'But then I realized I could turn that around because there's no end to the good things in my life. That's the message I wanted to get across.'
"One of the benefits of Katrina's years of performing is that, from a very young age, she has had an incredible gut instinct about what comprises a great song and a hit song, says Lacy. 'She has the ability to make each melody and lyric relatable to other people. She is not afraid to bare her soul and her songs reflect that. Whether they are serious, hopeful or purely a result of her crazy sense of humor, each one is honest and real...just like Katrina."
Several new and A-list artists have shown interest or currently have 'holds' on songs Katrina has written. Look for Katrina's debut album Katrina Elam in stores on October 5th.
