Nashville, TN. (www.shilohtheband.com) - It was standing room only at the WildHorse Saloon in Nashville Saturday night as
Shiloh literally moved the earth with one of the most powerful performances Nashville has ever seen. It all started when one of the
Shiloh band members yelled their famous phrase "Fire it up," and the crowd took their cue. Hundreds of fans hit the dance floor from the first opening note and four hours later, they were still screaming as
Shiloh attempted to wrap up their performance. It was apparent that if the fans could have their way,
Shiloh would never leave the stage.
As it was, fans lined up at the stage door waiting for their favorite band member to emerge for an autograph. As always, Shiloh did not disappoint. The show was jammed packed with the fast beat, hot tempo country sounds which kept their fans dancing through all four sets. Shiloh had a few well-placed ballads in their line up offering couples that romantic moment.
Their playful attics on stage draw their audience even closer to the band, but you have to keep a close eye on them because most pranks are subtle. Saturday night was no exception. Jason Fitz and Jason Minor continued with a microphone war that they had started the previous night. Fitz would lower Minor's stand when he wasn't looking. Minor would return the favor by stealing Fitz's stand altogether. This playfulness emulates the fun-loving attitude Shiloh brings to their music.
But with any up-and-coming new artist, controversy is never far behind. Joe Zampelli took a moment in the show to address concerns about the U.S.A flag scarf he proudly wears in the back pocket of his jeans. 'Some people tell me that they are offended that I carry this flag in my back pocket. I would like to take a moment and tell you that my brother wore this on this way over to Iraq where he is currently serving. He sent this one [scarf to me so that when we both travel the world we can think of each other, and tonight I wear it in honor of him.' The audience responds with a resounding thunder of applauds in support. With that, Shiloh picks up right where they had left off.
Understanding that these guys fully support one another like brothers, it is especially inspiring that on September 11, 2004 Shiloh will be performing at "For the Love of The Children 3: Tribute to Heroes" charity event in Long Beach, CA.
Though Shiloh is currently not on a record label, nothing seems to be stopping them. With over 30,000 CDs already sold, Shiloh cannot keep enough CDs in stock. As soon as a new shipment is received, the CDs are sold. Their website gets over 150,000 hits per month with the numbers increasing daily. With the current music industry trends, Shiloh is a phenomenon.
'It's all about the fans,' Jason Minor states humbly. 'They are the ones that we are here for. They give us great support.'
There is nothing humble about a Shiloh performance. Their shows are full of energy, excitement and power. Their fans can't seem to get enough. 'It always surprises me that our fans come from miles away to see us. Tonight we have some people who have driven for hours, and even a few who flew all the way from California for this show.
The fans feel differently. They believe that Shiloh is there for them and each fan seems to have a favorite. 'Jason Fitz is amazing on that fiddle,' states Lisa Woods. 'I just get drawn to Minor's energy,' states another Shiloh fan. 'It's Brian and Caron's ability to hit those hard-to-reach notes and hold them forever that gets me every time,' states Laural Llewellyn. 'The way Joe belts out a song with that deep Italian voice makes him my favorite,' quips Colleen Tims.
Shiloh seems unaffected by the 'band worship.' At a recent performance Jason Carson helped a fan and her mother change a flat tire when they spotted her in the parking lot of the venue they were leaving at 2 a.m. Every thing about these guys is unique.
Keep your eye on the Wildhorse schedule in late October because the fans are already begging them to return. However, before they can do another Nashville performance, Shiloh heads back to southern California for two very special appearances. Announced just this week, Shiloh will be appearing in the KZLA-FM Country Bash at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on Saturday, October 9, 2004. Along with Shiloh will be Josh Gacin, Racsal Flatts, Lee Ann Womack, SHeDaisy, Reba McEntire, Kid Rock, Julie Roberts, the Jenkins, and Chris Cagle.
