New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Downtown
Music Publishing Nashville has scored its first Number 1 Country
Radio Airplay hit with
Brett Young's "Sleep Without You," co-written by Downtown's
Kelly Archer,
Brett Young (BMLG) and Justin Ebach (Word Music). The chart-topping song is one of many firsts, as all three writers on the song are celebrating their first #1 hit.
Kelly joined the Downtown family along with partner RED Creative Group, two years ago, with over a decade of writing experience in Nashville. After coming on board, she has been on a major hot streak with 3 hit singles in Canada and, more recently, 4 songs on the country singles charts since March of 2016 with Cassadee Pope,
Brett Young,
Justin Moore and Chris Lane.
"So thrilled to be a part of Kelly's first No. 1, which also happens to be Downtown Nashville's first No. 1. Congrats to
Kelly and to our entire team for an amazing year! More to come..." says Steve Markland, Vice President of A&R, Downtown Nashville.
Downtown CEO Justin Kalifowitz said "We're extremely proud of
Kelly and all of the talented writers on the Downtown roster. We're equally inspired by their co-writers and fellow music publishers who have become quintessential partners with us. The success we've collectively had is a testament to our long-term commitment to the art and business of songwriting. We're looking forward to having many more hits together in the years to come!"
Since opening in Nashville in 2014, Downtown has acquired the catalogs of Charlie Black, Ray Whitley, Wayne Kirkpatrick and VLS Music, which includes
Lady Antebellum songs written-by Hillary Scott. Active songwriters including Andy Albert, Marc Beeson and
Kelly Archer have written recent charted Country hits for
Blake Shelton, Josh Turner, Justin Moore, Granger Smith, and Cassadee Pope. Downtown's Nashville office also represents the catalogs of Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Rosanne Cash, Old Crow Medicine Show,
Natalie Prass, and many more.
