The Flats Release Surprise EP "Auburn In The Everlast" For Free Via Bandcamp, On Tour With Mat Kerekes And Elder Brother Now

STREAM "AUBURN IN THE EVERLAST"

Front man/singer Chris Kerekes had this to say about the new EP:
"The Flats new EP is about entering into a new phase of my life. A rejuvenated- energetic phase while still acknowledging the reasons why I felt that the quality of my life was poor prior. That includes removing people from my life, having new people come into my life, feeling like I was finally living again and also taking a hard look in the mirror and taking responsibility for what I did to create the situation. The EP title "Auburn In The Everlast" is intended to abstractly say "negative things forever in the past." The idea conceptually came from the thought/feeling that red or auburn can be associated with negativity and the past is something that fits the description of something that is "everlasting." -

The Flats are also starting an east coast/midwest tour supporting Mat Kerekes (of Citizen) and Elder Brother (The Story So Far side project) today. Brother of singer Chris and drummer of The Flats, Mat Kerekes also produced "Auburn In The Everlast" and all 3 music videos coming out this week. Mat had this to say about his roll in the band; "The Flats are a very special project to me. I don't write any of the songs, but when they are brought to me by someone in the band to either track or give criticism I treat them as if they were my own. I think every single person in this band is a very talented songwriter and I feel honored that they trust my creative opinion both musically and visually. We picked these songs apart to the bone together and made them what we think are the best they can be. Everything about this release is so genuine. These are some of the best songs they've ever written and I know they are going to resonate with a lot of people."
