New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The 93rd edition of the LA County Fair (LACF) opens this Friday, Sept. 4, with amazing new attractions, themed displays, rides and foods sure to give this year's 1.3 million visitors the most naturally exhilarating experience imaginable. Add to that the return of the spectacular Luminasia nighttime attraction and the result is a Sept. 4-27 that soars to spectacular new heights.
Is it any wonder that event organizers have coined the 93rd edition of the LA County Fair "A
Natural High"? And, to celebrate, Fair organizers are hosting a Sept. 3
Natural High Twitter Party with the popular food blog Foodbeast.
New this year is Popnology, a hands-on destination attraction making its world premiere at the LA County Fair. Among the 33,000-square-foot exhibition are the coolest tech and science gadgets influenced by popular culture, ranging from the Batmobile, Hal 9000 computer from "2001: A Space Odyssey" and Oculus Rift virtual reality technology to R2D2 from "
Star Wars" and the famous DeLorean from "Back to the Future."
Back by popular demand is the larger-than-life Luminasia handcrafted lantern display, expanded for its second and final year at the LACF. Once again, visitors can stroll through massive, animated colorful replicas of iconic L.A. landmarks and never-before-seen images.
Other LACF favorites include the Carnival pulsating with more 70 rides, some new for 2015; the trapeze and aerial artists of Esmeralda's Traveling Circus; Mojo's Wild & Crazy Lagoon, celebrating the 16th birthday of LACF's resident Weeper Capuchin monkey; the sharks, seals and sting rays of Beneath the Sea and new outdoor Seaquarium; and the Grinding Gears
Music Experience with DJs, tribute bands and the
Battle of the Bands competition.
And expect to satisfy your favorite Fair food cravings (and more) with more than 1,200 deep-fried, on-a-stick, ooey, gooey, barbecued, dipped-in-chocolate and just plain delicious menu options. Newly imagined items for 2015 include the Bacon-Wrapped Chicken and Waffles, Deep-Fried Guacamole and Spicy Peanut Butter & Jelly Burger made with Sriracha sauce.
Healthy-eating fans can choose from hundreds of vegetarian, gluten-free and organic options, or head to The Farm at Fairplex, one of the largest urban farms in America, for specialty fruits and vegetables. The new Farmhouse Grill offers delicious wood-grilled flat bread filled with a variety of toppings harvested right from The Farm. And pair that fresh produce with wine, spirits and beer at The Marketplace and you've got a farm-to-table dining experience like none other.
Of course, no Fair would be complete without animals - and LACF has more than 500 of the cutest, wooliest and funniest critters from around the world to snap that selfie with. One of the stars of this year's menagerie is Mangalitsa, an Eastern European blonde-haired pig that looks like a cross between a swine and the wooliest sheep you've ever seen.
And like every year, the LACF End of Summer Concert Series, presented by Toyota, lights up the historic Grandstand Stage with 15 nights of favorite, timeless and modern big-name musical acts.
