New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Multiplatinum-selling singer/songwriter
Ellie Goulding has achieved another notable milestone in her already impressive career. Goulding was just recognized by Billboard as having the most entries for any British female artist on their Hot 100 Chart this century, surpassing such artists as Adele, Natasha Bedingfield,
Dua Lipa and
Jessie J. The achievement was earned with her latest single on Interscope Records/Universal Music, "
Hate Me", with the multi-platinum selling artist Juice WRLD, marking her 14th song to enter the Hot 100 since 2000. Other tracks include her global hits, "Burn", "
Lights", "
On My Mind", "
Love Me Like You Do" (a #1 in 70 countries) and her recent smash with Diplo & Swae Lee, "
Close To Me", among others. The Billboard triumph comes on the heels of Ellie's recent YouTube Diamond Award, which marked 10 million subscribers on her YouTube channel. Ellie joined only a handful of British artists who received this YouTube honor including Coldplay, Adele,
Little Mix, Ed Sheeran, One Direction,
Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa. Additionally, she has amassed over 5 billion views globally, with "Love Me Like You Do," among the top 40 most viewed videos on YouTube, and two videos in YouTube's Billion Views Club.
Since its release, "
Hate Me" has already garnered over 80 million streams globally, and the music video has amassed 22 million views in just two weeks. The infectious single was written by Goulding and
Juice WRLD and produced by Jason Evigan (Demi Lovato, Madonna) & The Monsters and Strangerz (Britney Spears, J Lo, Kanye West). Watch the music video, directed by Saam Farahmand here. The dark and ominous clip mirrors the song's lyrics, elegantly playing on the concept of the negative side of social media at the end of a relationship.
Ellie recently chatted with W Magazine, Paper Magazine and Huffington Post about the inspiration behind her latest collaborations and future projects. Critics have taken notice of "Hate Me," with Paper commenting, "Goulding's fluorescent soprano…can make anything sound epic, haunting and mysterious," while W aptly pointed out "Goulding has never wanted to be corralled inside of a box." The New York Times also recently raved, "it's eerie how effective Juice WRLD's melancholy sing-rapping feels when aligned with the aspirated chill of Ellie Goulding…"
"
Hate Me" is the follow-up to "
Close To Me", which hit #1 at Hot AC and top 5 at Top 40 radio formats. The "Red
Velvet Remix" of "
Close To Me", with Diplo is nominated as "Choice Electronic/Dance Song" at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards, airing August 11th on FOX. Additional new tracks Ellie has released include "
Sixteen" (watch the video here), "Flux" (watch the video here), "Hollow Crown", an original song on For The Throne (Music Inspired by the HBO Series Game of Thrones), and "
In This Together", for Netflix's "Our Planet" nature documentary series with
David Attenborough.
Ellie's incredible career to date has seen her receive two Grammy Award nominations, a Golden
Globe nomination, two BRIT Awards, sales of 15 million albums and over 112 million singles, and 13 billion streams worldwide. Notably, all three of her albums have been certified platinum in addition to her 18 RIAA certified singles. She has had 7 Top 10 Top 40 radio hits, garnered 14 million Instagram followers and has graced the main stage at every major US festival including Coachella and Lollapalooza. Goulding also works with the UN as a Global Environmental Ambassador and is involved in a number of other philanthropic ventures including being a patron of The Marylebone Project and fundraising for
Streets Of London.
