New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Interscope Records) Having already made a splash writing the hook on
Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso's smash single "Calling (Lose My Mind)" featuring Ryan Tedder, singer and songwriter
Matthew Koma will step out on his own with the
Parachute EP, which will be released by Cherrytree/Darkchild/Interscope Records on May 29th. On May 22nd, Koma hits the road with LMFAO, Far East Movement, The Quest Crew,
Sidney Samson, and
Eva Simons for the first night of the "Sorry For Party Rocking Tour," which crisscrosses North
America through July 7th. Please see below for all upcoming tour dates.
An inventive songwriter with a keen sense of melody, the New York-born and bred Koma wrote and produced/co-produced all of the four tracks on Parachute, working with collaborators Alex Da Kid (Nicki Minaj, Rihanna), The Runaways' Sam Watters and Louis Biancaniello (Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis), The Smeezingtons' Ari Levine (Bruno Mars, Bad Meets Evil), and Mike Caren (T.I., B.o.B.).
The four tracks that make up the Parachute EP are just a taste of what's to come when Koma releases his debut album Propaganda later this year— a product of a diligent approach to his craft, as well as an appreciation for the master singer-songwriters who have preceded him, especially his heroes Elvis Costello and Bruce Springsteen. The result is a collection of unforgettable songs rooted in a classic, timeless songwriting tradition that Koma makes thoroughly his own.
"I think any great record or great artist achieves a truth," Koma says. "Sometimes it's a hard thing to tap into that honesty, but it's important to accept the responsibility and deliver something real. That's the only way to connect with people in an honest way, through trust. Having kept that in mind throughout the process of making this record, I hope these are stories people can feel and take something from."
In other news, Koma also co-wrote and is featured on Alesso's new single "Years," which he performed live with Alesso at this year's Coachella festival. Koma also co-wrote and is featured on red-hot German DJ Zedd's first single from his upcoming full-length release.
