Robin Thicke Makes Surprise Performance And $10k Piano Donation To Long Island School
New York, NY (Top40 Charts / Company) This morning, multi-platinum superstar Robin Thicke joined VH1 Save The Music Foundation for a special surprise performance and piano donation at Viacom's headquarters in New York City.

The "Blurred Lines" singer performed for a packed room of Foundation supporters, board members and unsuspecting students of East Quogue Elementary School of Long Island. His moving set included hits "Magic" and "Dreamworld." Immediately following the performance, Thicke held an intimate Q&A about music with the young students, then announced the surprise donation of a Yamaha piano—valued at $10,000—to the school.

In addition to his piano donation, the singer will auction off an unforgettable meet-and-greet and fan social shout out through Charitybuzz. All proceeds from the contest, hosted at charitybuzz.com/robinthicke, will go toward the foundation's mission of funding instruments in schools.

Thicke has been an ambassador for the foundation since 2013—a huge supporter of music education, having taught himself to play piano at the age of 12.

"I can't imagine what my life would've looked like without music, so it's important for me to pay it forward by supporting ways to keep music in schools," said Thicke.

"We are so proud to have Robin Thicke as an ambassador," said Paul Cothran, vice president and executive director of the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. "His generosity and continued support of VH1 Save The Music make him not only a great musician, but an outstanding role model and advocate for music education."

Thicke released his sixth studio album, Blurred Lines, in July 2013. The album garnered three GRAMMY nominations and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 while its title single "Blurred Lines," continued its 12-week reign on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This made Thicke the first artist to take the top spot on both lists since December 2012, and only the 17th act to earn the distinction in the past 10 years. "Blurred Lines" scored the highest audience ever recorded and broke records by climbing to #1 on five radio charts simultaneously (Top 40, Rhythm, Urban, Hot AC & Urban AC) - the first time this has ever been done by an artist. Thicke's seventh studio album, Paula, was released in July 2014. The singer is back with two new singles "Morning Sun" and "Back Together" ft. Nicki Minaj.
