New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Fort Dodge region is filled with art and culture and the Fort Dodge Fine Arts Association is committed to promoting all the opportunities and quality of life these organizations have to offer.
This summer the Blanden Art Museum will again host the Blanden Summer Art Festival on June 13th. The event is free to the public and will be held on the lawn of the Blanden Art Museum from 10 am to 3 pm.
Located in the Historic Oak Hill District of Fort Dodge, the museum is a neo-classical public building constructed on private land and financed by Charles Granger Blanden. The museum and grounds were donated to the City of Fort Dodge at completion in 1932.
Summer Art Festival is scheduled to have performances from the Comedia Musica Players, Stage Door Productions, singer and guitarist Denny
Simon and Yo-Yo demonstrations and lessons by
Lucas Gremier.
Over two dozen artists and vendors will have art displayed and the Iowa Central Community College will be hosting an art activity booth where children will be able to explore and participate in various art activities. The Fort Dodge Photography Club display will feature photographic art from around the region.
A new BBQ restaurant, SmokeWorx, will be serving during the Summer Art Festival. A variety of sandwiches and other BBQ favorites will be featured and sure to please all the hungry visitors.
Joining in with all the festivities is the
Vincent House, located beside the Blanden Art Museum. The
Vincent House will host an Ice
Cream Social on the veranda being served by folks dressed in Victorian Era costumes. Tours of the
Vincent House will also be available.
Hawkeye Community Theatre is one of the longest continually running theatre organization and offers six productions each year including a dinner theatre and special Christmas performance.
Performances for 2015 include the June 9th thru 14th performance of the "
Falling" by Deanna Dent and directed by Alyssa Sparks. July 14th to 19th will bring "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald and directed by Adam Liker to the stage. "God of Carnage" by Yasmina Reza and directed by Lindsey Krug is scheduled for August 18th to the 23rd.
The Dinner Theatre production this year is "It's Only a Play" by Terrance McNally and will be directed by Terry Coleman. Dates for the Dinner Theatre are October 20th through the 25th. Not yet scheduled will be the final performance of the year - "Twas the Night Before Christmas" written by Ken Ludwig and directed by Alyssa Sparks.
