The two-year program offers an Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) degree for successful graduates.

Starting in the spring semester of 2021, the New Media for Actors new curriculum will build the skills necessary for students to navigate script development from concept to table read, be comfortable doing it all on their productions, learn to use post-production hardware and software, benefit from small class labs focus on practical skills, and promote their productions at festivals and on social media, among other capabilities required to succeed in this evolving industry.

"What makes The New York Conservatory different is our commitment to helping actors control their own future, develop their own work, and create opportunities in an ever-changing industry. New Media for Actors is a new concept in acting training developed to respond to the evolving expectations and responsibilities placed on artists in the 21st century," said Richard Omar, president and artistic director at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. "We are thrilled to offer this new degree, and look forward to welcoming our first class of New Media for Actors students in January 2021."

Become the actor they need to be in the ever-changing dramatic arts landscape
Students will build a solid acting technique through classes in acting, voice, movement, improvisation, and on-camera work. This part of training focuses on creating a flexible, expressive storyteller and performer.

Students will learn to develop scripts from concept to final draft, direct themselves on camera, and produce professional quality video content. Students will create full-scale video productions in classes taught by successful media entrepreneurs.

Students will be able to create their own opportunities with the know-how to produce and disseminate content that shares their vision and promotes their brand. Students will graduate armed with examples of their work to use as demos and calling cards, and with the all tools they'll need to capture attention and support.

The program will be held at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts campus in the flatiron district of New York City. Continuing The New York Conservatory's tradition of working faculty, classes will be taught by actors, directors and teaching artists focused on mentoring and developing students' skills with individualized instruction.
