New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Legendary guitar virtuoso, perennial poll winner and world music pioneer Al Di Meola's latest outing 'Pursuit of Radical Rhapsody' is out March 15th on Telarc International, a division of Concord Music Group. Years in the making, 'Pursuit of Radical Rhapsody' showcases Di Meola's mastery of complex rhythmic syncopation combined with provocative lyrical melodies and sophisticated harmony.

By turns tender and spirited, the album features soulful Di Meola compositions such as "Paramour's Lullaby" and stirring Latin explorations like "Gumbiero," as well as his interpretations of two classic pop tunes, "Strawberry Fields" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," both of which feature acclaimed bassist Charlie Haden.

Working with World Sinfonia (accordionist Fausto Beccalossi, second guitarist Kevin Seddiki, bassist Victor Miranda, drummer Peter Kazsas and percussionist Gumbi Ortiz), Di Meola has created a collection of 15 entrancing tracks that highlight his unparalleled technique on both acoustic and electric guitar. Critically lauded Cuban piano legend Gonzalo Rubalcaba - who is known for "charting new directions in Jazz" (ASCAP) - was a natural fit with the Sinfonia band and makes an appearance on five of the album's tracks including "Strawberry Fields." Percussionist Mino Cinelu, Hungary's Sturcz String Quartet and former Weather Report drummer Peter Erskine also appear on the album.

Di Meola's celebrated career, which began at age 19 with Return to Forever, has earned him three gold albums and more than six million record sales worldwide. He's also held his own playing side-by-side with fellow musical giants such as Return to Forever's Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White in addition to Paul Simon, Phil Collins, Stevie Winwood, Les Paul, Jimmy Page, Frank Zappa and many, many others.
