New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Broomhead are a 5 piece Alt-Rock band hailing from Manchester, England. Formed in early 2017 they have gone from strength to strength and building a sizeable following. They released their debut recording Petrichor part 1 in November with RGM Magazine stating that it was a 'collection of songs that bring with them great musicianship and powerful influence.' also calling the lead track
Lucas Lane 'a masterpiece'
The band have had an extremely busy year so far with gigs in support of Amnesty International and
Musicians Against Homelessness with a highlight being playing Tatton Park alongside
Toploader in July along with various other festivals.
They have recently put the finishing touches to their follow up E.P Petrichor Part 2 which is due for release in the latter part of the year. While in the studio, they decided to re-record Who Are You? a track from Part 1, this time including the fabulous double bass talents of
Pablo Estabenez-Blanco which is to be released as a single on 24th August.
Broomhead have gone from strength to strength and in 2018 that shows no sign of slowing down!
The Release
'Who Are You' was written accidentally, Dave set out to write a song for the harvest festival at his school but came up with the riff for this song instead. The only hint that this song came from this harvest writing session is the line "You were the harvest".
The song is an honest telling of the breakdown of Dave's marriage and the realisation that two people can become complete strangers even though at one point they were completely in love. "You were the harvest, you were the light" "You were the hardest, you were the night"
The decision was made to re-record the track after
Pablo joined the band and his bowed parts just took the track to a whole new level. The video was made during the recording sessions at Studio Studio in Rochdale with producer Pete Troughton and filmed by our friends at Design a Gig.A
