(Jaden's Ladder/ www.jadensladder.org) - Jaden's Ladder, a non-profit organization that assists survivors of domestic violence, announced today that they will be holding an "Evening of Jazz" fundraiser on Saturday, June 4th, 2005 from 6:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. at the historic Wentworth by the Sea Hotel in Newcastle, Hew Hampshire. All proceeds from the event will benefit Jaden's Ladder in their effort to provide post-shelter care and guidance to domestic violence survivors trying to reestablish their lives. Jaden's Ladder is dedicated to providing services that empower survivors to break the cycle of domestic violence, become active members of the community and reach new personal milestones. The "Evening of Jazz" fundraiser will feature live jazz from renowned multi-saxophonist Walter Beasley with an opening performance from Lauren Barnett and Top Hat as well as dinner and dancing. "With roots in the New England area, I am delighted to be participating in an event that helps domestic violence survivors obtain the skills for self-reliance as they reacclimate to their community," said Walter Beasley. Guests will also be able to participate in a live auction with select pieces from neo-mannerist artist Ernie Barnes and sports memorabilia from the 2005 World Series Champions, the Boston Red Sox. Randy Ayers, former Philadelphia 76ers head coach, Ernie Barnes and members of the 2005 Atlantic Division Crown Boston Celtics will make special appearances during the evening. "We've been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the New England community," said Oneta Bobbett, founder, Jaden's Ladder. "We hope this fundraiser provides us with additional resources to help us continue the programs that help domestic violence survivors take back their lives."
