Hartford, CT (Top40 Charts) Erin O'Luanaigh is a jazz newcomer who not only brings her studied musical heart but a depth and maturity that belies her 21 years with her brand new release "Honeysuckle Rose." "You can sense that she has definitely done her homework by listening to the masters of jazz. She has a strong creative musical sensibility and unique talent," says Jaijai Jackson of The Jazz Network Worldwide Social Network. Her distinctive phrasing and vocal stylings are likened to jazz greats Peggy Lee,
Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson, and Anita O'Day.
"I'm overjoyed to be featured among The Jazz Network's illustrious community of artists. It is an honor and a great privilege to share my music with like-minded musicians and fans around the world."
Erin's rhythmical heartbeat for jazz came early in life naturally leaning toward memorizing Ella's scat solos and singing "
Fever" into a hairbrush after being introduced to jazz by her grandfather's collection of jazz recordings.
O'Luanaigh's introduction to singing jazz came to the stage back in 2008 as a student at Hillsdale College in Michigan, spending most of her time in the College's jazz studio studying and rehearsing under the direction of department head Chris McCourry. In addition to being a member of the international music fraternity
Sigma Alpha Iota she received the Buhrer-True Scholarship for excellence in music.
Named the sole student member of The HillCats, Hillsdale College's faculty jazz band in her freshman year, offered performances at local concerts, fundraisers, master classes and clubs.
In 2009, she took the stage as vocalist of the Hillsdale College Big Band. During her senior year with the Big Band, Erin was named "Outstanding Vocalist" at the 2012 Liberal Arts Jazz Festival, adjudicated by jazz luminaries Jim Rupp,
David Jensen, and Brienn Perry.
Her first album, "Honeysuckle Rose," recorded at Solid Sound Studios in Ann Arbor, Michigan, was accompanied by The HillCats and the College Big Band. The majority of the album was recorded live.
Erin's music has been featured on the internationally syndicated "Dick Robinson's American Standards By the Sea" and "The Don Kennedy Show." "Erin's voice made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. She sings with great expression and a depth that you just can't hear — you've got to feel," states Robinson.
She most recently brought the character of "Betty Schaefer" to the stage in the Warner Theatre Stage Company's production of "
Sunset Boulevard" in Torrington, Connecticut and is currently teaching English and history at a private school in Hartford, Connecticut.
Singing jazz is Erin's first love, chartering a very promising future. She keeps this authentic dream alive by performing throughout Connecticut with masterful pianist John Brighenti, who has toured the U.S. with the
Glenn Miller and Eddy
Howard Orchestras.
