Joshua Redman, Tigran Hamasyan Nominated For Deutscher Jazzpreis
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Congratulations to Joshua Redman and Tigran Hamasyan, who have been nominated for the Deutscher Jazzpreis 2021 in their respective categories: Wind Instruments International for Redman and Piano/Keyboards for Hamasyan. The Jazzpreis is a new jazz award launched by the German government's Commissioner for Culture and Media. Winners will be announce in a livestreamed awards ceremony on June 3.

Joshua Redman was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Improvised Jazz Solo on "Moe Honk," a track from RoundAgain, the 2020 Nonesuch album with Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, and Brian Blade, which was also nominated for Best Jazz Instrumental Album. Redman is also up for a 2021 JJA Jazz Award.

Tigran Hamasyan's 2020 Nonesuch album, The Call Within, is a journey into his dreamlike inner world, taking inspiration from his interest in maps from different eras, poetry, Armenian folk stories, astrology, geometry, ancient Armenian design, rock carvings, and cinematography, and creating what Record Collector calls "a kaleidoscopic tapestry of sound." Jazzwise exclaims: "An exceptional recording for exceptional times."
