Detroit area music fans can start their weekends early this July with Cool Cars and Smooth Jazz, an outdoor concert series at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum, in Auburn Hills. The series runs 5 - 9 p.m. Thursdays, July 8 - 29.
Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with 2005 Chrysler vehicle test drives and Museum tours. Showtime is 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Guests can bring blankets and lawn chairs to kick back on the natural amphitheater that graces the Museum's landscape and enjoy the jazzy notes of such music greats as:
July 8 - Ramsey Lewis Trio
July 15 - Jeff Kashiwa and the Coastal Access Band
July 22 - Alexander Zonjic and Friends
July 29 - Pieces of a Dream
Cool Cars and Smooth Jazz is presented under the artistic direction of Alexander Zonjic of Hi-Falutin' Music and Smooth Jazz V98.7.
Before the show, guests can take a spin in a 2005 Chrysler 300C, Crossfire Convertible, Pacifica, PT Cruiser Convertible or a Town & Country Minivan.
Guests can also experience the Museum's special exhibition, Inspired Chrysler Design: The Art of Driving. This is the first-ever all-Chrysler exhibition featuring extraordinary classic and custom vehicles, as well as concepts from the auto show circuit, together for the first time.
Light supper, snacks, desserts and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the evening. Alcohol is prohibited. Free, on-site parking is available.
The Walter P. Chrysler Museum is located at the corner of Featherstone and Squirrel Roads on DaimlerChrysler's Auburn Hills complex. From I-75, take exit 78 and follow the signs.
