The Waitress - Somebody Mentioned Christmas
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Waitress is Manchester based singer/songwriter Ben Turner whose thoughtful storytelling bursts with energy and intensity, subtly connecting the dots between folk, jazz, country and pop.

His songs, influenced and inspired by Villagers, Damien Rice and Jeff Buckley, either take flight and arrive at epic endings, or settle down in dreamier meadows, playfully toying with melody and rhythm, rhyme and metre.

"Turner is very much his own man, lyrically intensely personal, but carrying a very universal appeal, and hinting at the promise of dark romance." - Cath Bore (Get Into This)

An edited cassette version of Queen's 'Night at the Opera' intrigued and informed the 8 year old Ben of how the incorporation of various pop styles, experiments using any genre, jazz standard style lyrics and outrageous theatrics makes for great, culture defining music. Equally, in his teenage years, he felt it was an education in itself to know all the lyrics that Dylan, Cohen, Buckley, Don Mclean ever wrote.

After a string of excitable school bands, mardy college bands and semi-serious local bands, Ben based himself in Bristol for a few years, where ideas for The Waitress began to take shape. Now more recently having found a new home in Manchester he's establishing himself, playing his songs regularly with various musicians and singers across the cities venues and open mics.
Ben (The Waitress) gives as a great Xmas song to end 2018.
More standard releases will follow in 2019.

Merry Xmas x
