MEXICO CITY, Mexico (Latin Music Magazine) - Mexican pop diva Gloria Trevi left a convent and returned to jail Tuesday to await possible extradition to Mexico, after a judge revoked her house arrest, police said.

The Supreme Court ruled on July 25 that Trevi, her 5-month-old son Angel Gabriel and choreographer Maria Raquenel Portillo could leave jail and move to a convent. That decision was overturned Monday by Supreme Court Judge Carlos Velloso, who said it violated an extradition agreement between Mexico and Brazil.

Trevi, Portillo and manager Sergio Andrade were arrested in Rio de Janeiro in January 2000 at the request of Mexican authorities, on accusations of kidnapping, rape and corruption of minors.

Trevi's lawyers have successfully blocked extradition, claiming her life is in danger if she returns to Mexico.

Trevi got pregnant while in custody, in what many Brazilians thought was a gambit to win asylum or at least a stay of extradition. Trevi said she was raped by a high-ranking Brazilian police official, although police said DNA tests show Andrade was the child's father.
