New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Ian Thornley, the accomplished solo artist and lead singer/songwriter for hit Canadian rock band Big Wreck, has signed a worldwide, co-publishing deal with ole, the world's fastest growing independent rights management company.
The deal includes Thornley's compositions from 2011 onward, when he signed with the Anthem Entertainment Group and reformed
Big Wreck after a nearly 10-year hiatus. Among the key copyrights are songs written by
Thornley for the band's hit 2012 reunion album Albatross, including its Canadian Rock Chart-topping single "Albatross" and Top 10 rock hits "
Wolves" and "A Million Days." In addition,
Thornley either wrote or co-wrote every track except one on Big Wreck's 2014 album Ghosts, which reached #4 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and was nominated for Rock Album of the Year at the 2015 Juno Awards.
Thornley is currently working on a new record, release date TBA. He will release
Ghosts in
Europe this summer through Spotlight Germany/Ferryhouse Productions.
"Ian
Thornley is a songwriter's songwriter, a musician's musician, and an artist's artist," said John Ozier, General Manager of Creative for ole. "To have the opportunity to represent and work alongside Ian with SRO/Anthem is an honor."
"I am so grateful to be a new member of the ole team," said Thornley. "The staff at ole go above and beyond expectations, and I know that we can grow and create some outstanding partnerships together. I can't wait to see what the future brings with ole."
Thornley founded
Big Wreck in 1993, eventually signing a U.S. record deal with Atlantic Records and releasing their
Double Platinum debut album, In Loving Memory Of…, in 1997. The group followed with The Pleasure and the Greed in 2001, which reached #10 on the Canadian Albums Chart, before disbanding in 2002.
Thornley went solo after the breakup, releasing the albums Come Again, which reached the Top 10 on the Canadian Albums Chart, and Tiny Pictures, resulting in five Top 10 singles on the Canadian Rock Chart. After signing with Anthem/SRO in 2011,
Thornley reunited in 2011 with fellow founding member of
Big Wreck Brian Doherty, touring consistently and releasing two new albums.
