New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) today released "Me Verás Brillar," a Spanish version of its "Watch Me Shine" anthem, which the organization released last year. The new song is distributed in conjunction with
National Hispanic Heritage Month and emphasizes the importance of girls taking the lead in their communities. For more than 100 years, Girl Scouts has given girls the tools to find their inner leader and empower themselves, and the new anthem is one of the many ways a girl can see herself represented as an unstoppable, inspiring G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader).
The original anthem was translated to Spanish by well-known producer José Luis Pagán (Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez) and sung by recording artist Alyssa Micaela. The English version of the song written by two-time Grammy winner Liz Rose (Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw,
Little Big Town) and Emily Shackelton (Reba McEntire,
David Cook, Cassadee Pope), has gone global since its release.
In the report Girl Scouting Works: The Alumnae Impact Study, which measures how Girl Scout participation influences girls of different backgrounds, the Girl Scout Research
Institute found that the positive effects of Girl Scouting seemed particularly pronounced for African American and Hispanic girls. As such, GSUSA offers a Spanish-language version of its website to ensure easy access for those Girl Scouts who speak Spanish as their first language. GSUSA also generates new studies for program and membership initiatives to ensure it aligns with the values and cultures of Hispanic families and continues to evolve its offerings accordingly.
In line with the Girl Scout tradition of sharing songs around a campfire, embracing music can be a wonderful way to motivate and engage girls.
"We believe that music is a powerful tool in inspiring this generation," said Mishka Pitter-Armand, vice president of brand marketing at GSUSA. "We have a large Hispanic base at Girl Scouts, so it's important to bring this song to girls in Spanish."
"Me Verás Brillar," produced by Breakthrough Music, is available for purchase from iTunes, Amazon Music, and other major online retailers. To learn more about how Girl Scouts transforms today's girls into tomorrow's leaders, and to volunteer, reconnect, donate, or join, visit www.girlscouts.org.
