Chicago, IL (Top40 Charts/ Encanto Productions) Naci Para Cantar, the first nationally televised, fully bilingual (Spanish/English) singing competition crowned its first winner Sunday, March 27, 2011 on LATV. Singers from all over the nation participated in the competition; Naci Para Cantar held auditions in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, San Francisco, an Diego, McAllen, and Tucson. Out of more than 1800 registered participants, thirteen finalists were selected to compete in
Chicago for $50,000 in promotional prizes and the opportunity to record a full album.
Hundreds of spectators gathered at Stage 773 in Chicago to cheer on Naci Para Cantar's thirteen finalists as they competed for the winning title. The competition was hosted by Berenice Guzman, Clear Channel radio personality and finalist in 'Nuestra Belleza Latina' 2009.
The finalists, ages 15 and older, competed in two categories: English and Spanish. Contestants were scored based on vocal ability, artistry, body expression, stage presentation, appearance, style and personality.
The judges for Naci Para Cantar's 'Pre-Launch' Show were the following:
Jose Luis Castaneda - Artist representative and music event Promoter with over twenty years of experience.
Natalie Oliveri - Singer, songwriter and producer with a new album currently out, titled 'Eclectic Soul.'
Victor Soberanis - Founder and Executive Producer of Naci Para Cantar, with seven years of experience in the entertainment industry.
Though all thirteen singers did a stellar job, the judges made a unanimous decision to crown Katherine Torrivilla the winner of Naci Para Cantar's 'Pre-Launch' Show. As the winner, Katherine will soon begin production of her first full album. Expect to hear from Katherine Torrivilla very soon!
