LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Aurora Flores of Aurora Communications) - Aurora Flores of Aurora Communications, Inc. & Founder & bandleader of Zon del Barrio in New York City has been selected to receive an award during the Sixth Annual Tribute to Women in Salsa. The Awards Ceremony and Show takes place at Zanzibar on The Waterfront in Washington, DC on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 9:00pm.

Historically, Salsa has been a male-dominated industry. Eileen Torres, salsa promoter and historian created the award in 2001 to recognize the women that have made significant contributions to the continued vitality, promotion and growth of the salsa community. Promoters, musicians, disc jockeys, dance instructors, choreographers, web publishers and others have been recognized in the past.

Originally the awardees were local to the DC Metropolitan area. However, the event has grown and now includes women on the national level. Former national recipients include DJs "Cookie Quinones" of Philadelphia, DJ Elvira of New York and Ivette Fuentes, from Oakland, California known as DJ "La Coqui" of live 365 internet radio and Joby Brava, choreographer, performer and director of Los Angeles. Immediately following the awards recognition, a show is presented that features all-female dance troupes.

This year 11 groups will present new choreographies followed by a finale with each dance team participating in the final number. Goya Foods is sponsoring this year's event.
