Universal Music Publishing Group Signs Latin Superstar Artist, Songwriter And Producer Romeo Santos
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Universal Music Publishing Group has concluded a major new worldwide deal with "The King of Bachata" Romeo Santos, one of the most influential Latin music superstars and the CEO of Roc Nation Latin, it was announced by Jody Gerson, UMPG Chairman and CEO, and Alexandra Lioutikoff, UMPG EVP/Latin Music.

For Santos, a multiple award winner and one of the biggest Latin songwriters, his exclusive publishing deal with UMPG marks the first time he has been represented by a major music publisher. UMPG will represent all of Santos' solo works, including the 5x platinum album Formula Vol.1, The King Stays King: Sold Out At Madison Square Garden, the RIAA Diamond certified album Formula Vol.2, as well as his highly anticipated, upcoming third solo studio album, which is slated for release in 2017.

In making the announcement Gerson said: I'm extremely proud to welcome Romeo Santos to the Universal Music Publishing family. He's an inspiring artist and top songwriter who is conquering the world on his own terms. I can't wait to hear what's next."

"I have known Romeo for many years, and as a Latin artist and songwriter he is as big as it gets. His massive appeal as an artist crosses all genres and borders, and we look forward to helping further expand opportunities for him in both the Anglo and Latino markets," added Lioutikoff.

The "King of Bachata" has had the most No.1 hits this decade by a Latin artist. Formula Vol.1 garnered five No.1 hits and spent an astonishing 17 weeks at No.1 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart. His Formula Vol.2, was also No.1 on the chart for over 8 months and had five No.1 singles including "Propuesta Indecente," and "Odio" ft. Drake, both of which went on to spend over three months at the top of the charts. On October 19, "Propuesta Indecente" was named the all-time top song of the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, since its inception in 1986. The song, which has more than 1 billion YouTube views, spent 123 of its 125 weeks in the top five due to continued strong airplay, sales and streams.

Among his many accolades, Santos was named ASCAP Latin Songwriter of the Year for five years in a row, and this year was named ASCAP's 2016 Songwriter/Artist of the Year. He also won Billboard's Latin Music Artist of the Year for two years straight.

Santos has collaborated with top artists including Usher, Lil Wayne, Pitbull, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Marc Anthony and Carlos Santana. He's also the No.1 Urban-Pop Latin artist in social media with over 30 million fans. The multifaceted artist acted in the blockbuster Fast and Furious 7 and recently lent his voice the animated film Angry Birds. He made history as the first Latin artist to perform at the new Yankee Stadium with two sold out shows of 50,000 people in attendance each night. Santos has appeared in major TV shows such as The Bachelor, The Today Show and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and was also part of the iconic Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
