Milton Patton's audition video with NBC TV's "America's Got Talent" circled the globe a few times gaining more than 2 million views through a handful of viral life-cycles. Then he disappeared.
Sort of.
Today he resurfaces with the release of his first music video single and 6-song EP on the crowd-funding site Kickstarter, as part of a campaign to complete and distribute his full-length debut CD this fall.
"I've been busy," said the 24-year-old country singer from Forrest City, Arkansas. "There's been a lot of people asking me when my CD would come out, and I just hope those 2 million people who saw the AGT video haven't forgotten about me. I sure haven't forgotten about them."
Milton was a finalist in the show's 2013 season, and after firmly rejecting several proposed record deals that he said weren't right for him, he has been learning the hard work of songwriting and co-producing his own CD. He said it was important to him to avoid falling in line with current mainstream trends in country music. So he has pursued the independent route with vigor, seeking to be part of the country genre's return to honest songwriting-based music.
"I've always liked the classic country sound. I'm proud to be from Arkansas, and I wanted my songs to sound like I'm from Arkansas," Patton said. "We sit here between
Memphis and Tulsa, the Mississippi Delta, Texas, and not so far from Nashville - my sound catches some of all those influences."
The video single, "Get Us In Trouble," and the debut 6-song EP are available for now only through the Kickstarter campaign. The campaign looks to finance additional recording, marketing and distribution of his a 10-song CD.
Milton is also busy playing live shows in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. His thousands of fans are spread out all over the country, as well as the United Kingdom, Russia, Western
Europe and Australia.
