Christina Perri's "A Thousand Years" Wins The 11th Annual MusicNotes Song Of The Year Award
Madison, Wis (Top40 Charts) Musicnotes.com, the Madison, Wis.-based online sheet music retailer and publisher, announced today that Christina Perri's hit song "A Thousand Years," from the Twilight: Breaking Dawn soundtracks, has won the 11th annual Musicnotes Song of the Year Award.

"I believe in love, and I believe that one day we all might find that one person that we'll love for eternity. I also adore everyone's covers and hearing everyone's spin on the song. It's special to me in every way."

"A Thousand Years" was selected as the 2012 Musicnotes Song of the Year due to its status as the best-selling piece of sheet music on the site in 2012. Sheet music for the song has been purchased and downloaded more than 20,000 times since its addition to Musicnotes.com's online catalog, and is available for all major instruments.

"'A Thousand Years' was one of my favorite songs to write, and a favorite, for sure, of mine to sing. I meant every word," Perri said. "I believe in love, and I believe that one day we all might find that one person that we'll love for eternity. I also adore everyone's covers and hearing everyone's spin on the song. It's special to me in every way."

The song's writers, Christina Perri and David Hodges, will both receive the award, joining the ranks of previous winning songwriters including Adele, Leonard Cohen, and Linda Perry. This also marks David Hodges' second song to receive the Musicnotes.com Song of the Year Award, after previously receiving the award in 2003 for Evanescence's "My Immortal."

Miss Perri Lane, EMI Music Publishing and Summit Entertainment, the song's publishers, will receive Musicnotes Publisher of the Year Awards.

Musicnotes has previously presented awards to Adele ("Someone Like You"), Leonard Cohen ("Hallelujah"), Vanessa Carlton ("A Thousand Miles"), Linda Perry (Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful"), Evanescence ("My Immortal"), Tom Higgenson ("Hey There Delilah"), Marcus Hummon, Bobby Boyd and Jeff Hanna ("Bless the Broken Road"), Daniel Powter ("Bad Day"), Jon Mabe and Jessi Alexander ("The Climb") and Steve Perry, Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon ("Don't Stop Believin'").

"A Thousand Years" is seeing resurgence in popularity amongst musicians after its recent inclusion on FOX's television program, Glee, and remains a top-seller at Musicnotes.com.
