New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Last night, Keek (TSX VENTURE: KEK) (OTCQX: KEEKF) was in the house as the exclusive mobile video social network of HOT 97's Summer Jam 2014. Fifty-five thousand people were dancing and partying at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey during WQHT HOT 97 Summer Jam 2014. Major musical artists performed including: Nas, 50 Cent,
Nicki Minaj with Young Money, Trey Songz,
Iggy Azalea and many more. There were also surprise guests that included Drake,
Chris Brown and Snoop Dogg, who joined
Wiz Khalifa on stage to sing "
Young, Wild & Free"! Yo Gotti,
Meek Mill and rapper French Montana, who has recently been featured in the press for his new relationship with Khloe Kardashian, also surprised fans. The
G-Unit reunion happened at the end of the evening when
Lloyd Banks came on to perform "On Fire,"
Tony Yayo sang "
So Seductive" and even
Young Buck performed "Shorty Wanna Ride." A Tupac tribute stirred the crowd, performed by Mister Cee. The Roots, who just launched a new album: And Then You Shoot Your Cousin, rocked the stage with
M.O.P. and The Lox. But in addition to the well-known artists, a few stars were born, and also performed live to thousands of screaming fans. Original content and concert highlights can be found on keek.com.
Keek, a leading mobile video social network, known for its "keeks" -- short 36-second video updates, was an integral part of Summer Jam 2014 program, including a search for "Who's Next?" artists, an effort to uncover the next big stars in Hip Hop and R&B. Unsigned musical artists recorded themselves performing for 36 seconds using the Keek app and shared it with 67 million Keek members as well as the artists' fans on Facebook and Twitter. The artists with the most "likes" performed on the HOT 97 Summer Jam Festival Stage last night and competed for $1,000 cash and a recording contract with Duck Down Music. Winners from the competition included 20-year-old Staten Island R&B Singer Mercedes Ruiz who sang
Christina Aguilera's Impossible and Eazie Does It, a 23-year-old Hip Hop and Pop Artist from Brooklyn who sang "Mad or Nah."
Ruiz said: "It feels surreal to win. This is something I have wanted for so long and I am so grateful to have been able to fulfill one of my dreams to perform on the Summer Jam stage."
Eazie Does It said "Feels awesome. All this hard work is paying off."
In addition to "Who's Next?" four separate winners from a contest held in partnership with Toronto radio station Z103 were hosted for a Summer Jam VIP experience in the Keek suite. Keek also delighted concertgoers as they entered the stadium with the "Keek Lounge" at the Summer Jam Festival Village, which included a VIP lounge experience including charging stations, iPads, prizes and giveaways. At the Keek Lounge, visitors could watch interviews with their favorite "Who's Next?" artists and had an opportunity to cool off, recharge and enter for a chance to win a mid-concert ticket upgrade. During the concert, legendary HOT 97 DJ
Angie Martinez did a "call out" to the winners and the Keek team surprised a few lucky fans in their seats and upgraded them to the VIP section, energizing the crowd around them. In the days leading up to the concert, Keek fans from around the world also won tickets to HOT 97's Summer Jam and Keek was backstage at MetLife Stadium, bringing exclusive never-seen-before celebrity content from behind-the-scenes.
