Lakeshore Records To Release People Like Us - Original Soundtrack
Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ CineMedia Promotions) Lakeshore Records will release the People Like Us - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally and in stores on June 19, 2012. The recording features original score by Academy Award winning composer A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 HOURS) and the new song "Dotted Line," a collaboration between Rahman and Liz Phair.

"My challenge with People Like Us was to score with less instruments, but still capture the heart the film needed," said Rahman. "I wanted a certain imperfection in the texture and sounds to reflect the characters of the movie."

A two-time Academy Award®-winning composer, A. R. Rahman has helped redefine contemporary Indian music. The "Mozart of Madras" as Time Magazine dubbed him, has sold more than 150 million CDS comprising of music from more than 100 film soundtracks and albums across over half a dozen languages, including landmark scores such as Roja, Bombay, Dilse, Taal, Lagaan, Vandemataram and more recently, Jodhaa Akbar, Delhi 6, Slumdog Millionaire and 127 HOURS.

In 2008 Rahman gained global prominence with his score for Slumdog Millionaire winning two Academy Awards for "Best Score" and "Best Song." Overall, he won 15 awards including two Grammys, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA. To date, Rahman has won 25 Filmfare Awards, 3 MTV Awards, 4 IIFA Awards, 6 Tamil Nadu State Awards, 6 Zee Awards, and 4 Screen Awards. The following two years Rahman was also the composer of two more hit films, 2009's Couples Retreat and 2010's 127 HOURS.

From DreamWorks Pictures comes People Like Us, a drama/comedy about family, inspired by true events, starring Chris Pine (Star Trek) as Sam, a twenty-something, fast-talking salesman, whose latest deal collapses on the day he learns that his father has suddenly died. Against his wishes, Sam is called home, where he must put his father's estate in order and reconnect with his estranged family. In the course of fulfilling his father's last wishes, Sam uncovers a startling secret that turns his entire world upside down: He has a 30-year-old sister Frankie whom he never knew about (Elizabeth Banks). As their relationship develops, Sam is forced to rethink everything he thought he knew about his family—and re-examine his own life choices in the process. The film also stars Olivia Wilde, Michael Hall D'Addario, Philip Baker Hall, Mark Duplass and Michelle Pfeiffer.

A DreamWorks Pictures presentation, People Like Us is directed by Alex Kurtzman, produced by Roberto Orci, Bobby Cohen and Clayton Townsend, and written by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jody Lambert. The film releases in U.S. theaters on June 29, 2012. The People Like Us -- Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on Lakeshore Records will be available digitally and in stores on June 19, 2012.
