LONDON, UK (www.skindred.com) - U.K. ragga-metal hybrid
Skindred will hit the road with U.S. rockers
Papa Roach beginning February 17 in Seattle, Washington. The U.K. lads will continue to support their Lava Records debut album Babylon, which has captured the No 1 spot on the Reggae chart for 10 weeks, selling over 100,000 copies to date.
The South Wales, four-piece band, fronted by former Dub War vocalist Benji Webbe, unleashed their experimental reggae/rock hybrid on
America August 31, 2004. Not only has the album seared a lasting impression on the Reggae chart, it has hovered in the Top 10 on the New Artist Chart for months, currently holding onto the No 5 spot. First single "
Nobody" fueled the mayhem, charting Top 10 at both Active Rock and Mainstream Rock. The in-your-face companion video saw significant MTV2 and FUSE airplay, scoring a Top 20 most played video on both channels. Pulsating new single "
Pressure" will impact Rock and Alternative radio mid-January. The band just finished up a sold-out tour with Korn and rocked the house with a blistering performance of "
Nobody" on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
British magazine Q describes Skindred's vocalist as a "God fearing black man brought up on the mean streets of Newport on equal doses of
Sex Pistols and Max Romeo," while music bible NME describes Skindred's sound as "Bad Brains-style ragga-punk." In other words, picture
