LOS ANGELES (www.weezer.com) - No 1, that's where they want to be! The year-end Nielsen SoundScan numbers are in and Weezer is king of the cyber-mountain. "Beverly Hills" logged a whopping 961,981 downloads in 2005 to earn the honor of being the biggest selling Digital Track of the year.

Overall, 2005 was a banner year for Weezer as the band's latest effort Make Believe earned the band their highest U.S. chart debut - No 2 on the Billboard Top 200. Make Believe is now certified platinum with sales of over one million copies in the US. Not just a success at home, the Rick Rubin produced Make Believe has emerged as a global phenomenon, as well. It debuted at No 1 in Canada and Japan. Additionally, the album came in at No 11 in England, No 7 in Ireland, No 15 in Sweden and Top 20 in Austria, Australia and New Zealand. Make Believe has since been certified platinum or gold in many of these countries.

Current radio single "Perfect Situation" is presently No 1 at Modern Rock radio and is the second track from the CD to cross over to Top-40 radio ("Beverly Hills" was a multi-format hit, as well). The video for "Perfect Situation," starring Elisha Cuthbert (24, The Girl Next Door, Old School) is currently in the Top-10 on MTV and Fuse and is in heavy rotations on VH-1, mtvU and IMF.

Rivers Cuomo, Brian Bell, Scott Shriner, and Pat Wilson comprise the band's line-up. Formed in L.A. back in 1992, Weezer signed with Geffen Records, which released self-titled debut album two years later. They enjoyed immediate success with hits like "Undone - the Sweater Song," "Buddy Holly," and 'say it Ain"t So" - that album went on to sell over three million copies in the US. Subsequent albums include 1996's Pinkerton (certified gold), 2001's Weezer aka "Green Album," (certified platinum) and 2002's Maladroit (also certified gold).
