Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ CineMedia Promotions) - Lakeshore Records will release the Vampires Suck - Original Motion Picture Score available digitally on August 17th and in stores on August 31, 2010. The film is written and directed by two guys who couldn't sit through another vampire movie, Jason Friedberg and
Aaron Seltzer (Disaster Movie, Meet The Spartans), and features original music composed by
Christopher Lennertz (Cats & Dogs 2, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Meet The Spartans).
Composer Christopher Lennertz was excited to stake his claim to another Friedberg/Seltzer film. "Working with Aaron and Jason is a true joy," said Lennertz. "They love music and really believe in making the music larger than life to play the straight man against the comedy. This fits right into my sensibilities."
It seems that 2010 has become the year of the undead. "I wanted to take everything that makes the vampire genre so seductive...tragic melodies, dark romance, and scary textures...and turn it up to eleven," described Lennertz. To do so he "used a full orchestra, voices, guitars, and huge percussion to really bring the vampires to life."
At only 38 years old, Christopher Lennertz has scored 37 feature films, 5 network television series, many of the world's biggest interactive titles, and has spent weeks on the Billboard charts. He has studied with Academy AwardR winner Elmer Bernstein, David Raksin, and Christopher Young and has a degree in composition from USC's Thornton School of Music. He has worked with such artists as Basil Poledouris, Michael Kamen, Mark Mancina, Ozomatli, The RZA, and Alien Ant Farm.
Lennertz was named Best New Composer in 2002 by Cinemusic for his work on Clive Barker's Saint Sinner. His collaboration with Ozomatli on their record Street Signs garnered a Grammy AwardR for best Latin Rock Album. He won an Interactive Academy Award in 2004 for Medal of Honor: Rising Sun from EA, and was nominated again in 2006 for Activision's GUN. In 2006 Lennertz was also nominated for an Emmy AwardR for his music on the television series Supernatural. His credits include the films Tortilla Heaven, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Meet The Spartans, Disaster Movie, The Open Road, ADAM, and the video games The Godfather Part II (Electronic Arts) and Quantum of Solace (Activision). Lennertz' upcoming projects include Cats and Dogs 2: The Revenge of Kitty Galore and Marmaduke.
