
LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ New Line Cinema) - New Line Records' soundtrack to the hit musical comedy "
Hairspray" was the No 1 Top Independent Album of the year on Billboard's 2007 Year-End Charts.
The "Hairspray" soundtrack spent nine consecutive weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard Top 200 chart after its July 10 release and was recently certified Platinum by the RIAA, selling more than 1 million copies in the US. The album also received a 2008 Grammy nomination for Best Soundtrack Recording.
The New Line Cinema film has grossed more than $200 million at the worldwide box office - making it the third highest grossing musical of all time. In addition, "Hairspray" has earned numerous accolades this awards season including: 3 Golden Globe nominations including Best Picture - Musical or Comedy; a Screen Actors Guild nomination for Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture; and 2 Critics Choice Awards (Best Acting Ensemble and Best Young Actress - Nikki Blonsky) from the Broadcast Film Critics Association.

New Line Records also was the No 2 Top Independent Imprint and the No 3 Top Independent Label in 2007 on the Billboard Year-End Charts.
The label earned an additional Grammy nomination for Howard Shore's soundtrack for "The Departed" in the category of Best Score Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture; and New Line Records artist Allison Moorer was nominated for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals for the song "Days Aren't Long Enough" with Steve Earle.
The song "Despedida" from New Line Records' "Love in the Time of Cholera" soundtrack, with music by Shakira and Antonio Pinto and lyrics by Shakira, garnered a 2008 Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song.
Other 2007 highlights from New Line Records included new releases from artists Albert Hammond, Jr., whose debut solo album "Yours To Keep" debuted in March 2007 as Billboard's No 1 Alternative New Artist; Robbers on High Street; and Office.
