Thomas Murphy Heads To SXSW To Screen My Father Die And Talking About One Of The Most Challenging Roles Of His Life
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Murphy said, "I'm very excited to be a part of this film. Director, Sean Brosnan, is a talented guy. The way he shot and his approach to the cast and material made it really enjoyable to work with him."

Actor Thomas Murphy (MY FATHER DIE, TERMINATOR GENISYS) will be attending the premiere of his new film MY FATHER DIE at SXSW on March 12, 2016. The film will be screened at 11:59 PM at the Alamo Ritz 1. Murphy said, "I'm very excited to be a part of this film. Director, Sean Brosnan, is a talented guy. The way he shot and his approach to the cast and material made it really enjoyable to work with him. I'm looking forward to seeing this film for the first time in its entirety with an audience on the big screen at SXSW."

MY FATHER DIE synopsis: Deaf and mute since having his hearing knocked out at the age of 12, Asher has been training for almost two decades to avenge himself on Ivan, the man that killed his older brother, 21 years ago. And now that his nemesis is out of prison, he gets his chance. But Asher's target also happens to be his father. This film is written and directed by Sean Brosnan, son of Pierce Brosnan. Murphy plays a preacher in the film that has a weakness to some less then holy entertainment. Murphy said, "I really had to go out of my comfort zone to play this character. I accepted the role without reading the script. It was kind of an "OH MY GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE" moment when I first finished it. I have had some challenging roles but this is definitely the most anyone has seen of me to this point! What you see might not be pretty but it is certainly truthful."

About Thomas Francis Murphy has trained as a hard hat diver, worked as an ambulance driver, a social worker, and a freelance theatre critic. In his thirties, while living in Little Rock, AR, Murphy decided to take an acting class. The class changed his direction in life and acting became an enduring preoccupation. He spent over 20 years on the East Coast with a paintbrush in one hand and a script in the other while pursuing a career in the theatre. He picked up a degree along the way and trained with Shakespeare & Co of Lenox, MA then spent years performing in off off Broadway houses in New York where his work in the plays of Sam Shepard garnered high praise in the New York Times and several other publications.

Murphy moved to New Orleans in 2013 and has worked across from many of Hollywood's A-list actors including Woody Harrelson in True Detective, Chiwetel Ejiofor in 12 Years a Slave, and Keanu Reeves in The Whole Truth. Murphy also had principle roles in the soon to be released, Free State Of Jones, with Mathew McConaughey and Same Kind of Different As Me, with Greg Kinnear and Renee Zellweger, and was a somewhat series regular on Salem. He has appeared on American Horror, and a host of other projects.
