New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Animation Career Review, a website covering the animation industry that's "the source for aspiring animation, design, and gaming professionals seeking info on training programs, schools and colleges," has ranked Ex'pression College's animation program as #45 among private schools and colleges in the United States and #20 on the West Coast of the United States. The criteria used for the rankings included academic reputation, admission selectivity, depth and breadth of the program and faculty, value as it relates to tuition and indebtedness, and geographic location.
"This strong ranking is a reflection of the professional reputation that our animation department has built through the success of our graduates and experience of our faculty," says Brian Andrews,
Director of Animation and Visual Effects at Ex'pression College. "Our alumni can be found in almost every major VFX production facility, and it's rare to see a film in the multiplex that doesn't have one of our graduate's work on it in some capacity. Recent investments into our facility, including four upgraded PC labs, helped to boost our ranking."
Ex'pression graduates have been involved with some of the top grossing Academy Award-nominated films featuring animation and cutting edge visual effects of the last several years, including "How to
Train Your Dragon 2", "Big Hero 6", "The Boxtrolls", "The Hobbit: The
Battle of the Five Armies", and "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes". In 2012, Ex'pression graduate Alex Henning won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects for his work on
Martin Scorcese's "Hugo".
"We considered roughly 215 schools nationally, 50 on the West Coast, and 130 private schools," says Brad Prescott, Founder of Animation Career Review, who also ranked Ex'pression's gaming program as #20 among West Coast game design colleges. "With so many schools under consideration, making our lists means that a school is doing many things right. Ex'pression is certainly worthy of consideration for students seeking to study animation or game design in a mecca like the San Francisco/Bay Area."
