Music Video Honoring Cancer Patients Debuts During Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
New York, NY (Top40 Charts / ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer) Nashville recording artist and former American Idol contestant Jimmy Charles today debuted his music video for his hit song Superman on CMT.com. Coinciding with Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, the song and video were inspired by prostate cancer patients and survivors and will raise awareness of a disease that takes the life of an American man every 19 minutes.

Charles serves as spokesman for the national nonprofit ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer and will perform Superman at the organization's event series - the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk - in cities across the country including Cincinnati, San Antonio, and St. Louis.

"During a month when we renew our commitment to keep families together, Superman's lyrics unite and inspire patients, survivors, and those who love them," said ZERO CEO Jamie Bearse. "We are honored to work with a talented rising country music star to elevate the cause and help make ending prostate cancer a national priority."

To write Superman, Charles, a Baltimore native, connected with a prostate cancer patient at Chesapeake Urology, one of ZERO's Run/Walk partners. After spending time together and learning about the struggles that men and families face when fighting cancer, Charles was inspired to pen his hit, which he first performed at the 2014 ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk - Baltimore. The video, directed by Steve Condon, portrays a man's journey with cancer, from diagnosis to how his family is affected.

During the time he was recording the song, Charles unexpectedly lost his own father. "It feels good to be able to provide comfort to families facing cancer through my gift of music," said Charles. "Recording the song helped me deal with the loss of my dad, knowing that I could help other families that were suffering."
