NEW YORK (SONY BMG MUSIC) - Sony Urban Music and Columbia Records Group today announced that they have signed a production and label deal with one of the most influential A&R executives in Rap and Hip Hop, Mike Lynn, who is joining Sony after a lengthy tenure at Aftermath Entertainment. As part of the deal Mr. Lynn will sign, develop and produce artists for joint release on Sony Urban Music/Columbia Records and Lynns' own imprint, Big Ego Entertainment.

'It's a true pleasure to announce this groundbreaking deal,' commented Lisa Ellis, General Manager, Sony Urban Music. 'Mike's work with artists such as Eminem, 50 Cent, and the Game has helped establish him as a major force in the world of Rap and Hip Hop. The entire Sony Urban Music team looks forward to working closely with him as we develop and produce the next wave of important artists.'

Mike Lynn began his career as a Los Angeles based DJ, and in 1996 he was asked to join Aftermath Entertainment by Dr. Dre. During nearly a decade at Aftermath he worked with some of the most influential artists in Rap and Hip Hop, including Eminem, 50 Cent, the Game, Eve, and Busta Rhymes.

'I'm happy to bring to Sony the best new and top-level Hip Hop talent that everybody there can be excited about,' commented Mr. Lynn. 'I believe this partnership with Sony Urban and Columbia Records will be stronger than any other out there in Urban Music.'

'During his years with Dre at Aftermath, Mike played a key role in the development of some of the most important artists working today, while at the same time building up strong relationships throughout the business,' commented Steve Greenberg, President, Columbia Records. 'With this new alliance Sony Urban and Columbia will benefit from an increased presence on the West Coast, as well as from Mike's unlimited dedication to his artists, and true passion for music. This is a great day for everyone involved.'
