New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Two of the Philadelphia region抯 top performers are joining forces for a special evening of acoustic rock music at the iconic Tin Angel on January 17, 2015. Matt Portella will be headlining the show with Fran Smith, Jr. of The Hooters while special guest Brian Quinn will be opening the show with fellow Octane member, bassist Mike Vlaanderen.
Portella, who broke onto the scene opening up for such artists as Dave Mason, The Bacon Brothers and Jeffrey Gaines, recently released his critically-acclaimed album Fractured Image. He teamed up with Steve Butler from Smash Palace for the CD and it was produced by Portella and co-produced by Smith and Andy Kravitz (Juliana Hatfield, Life of Agony). Tod Howarth (Frehley抯 Comet, Cheap Trick) joined in on some of the backing vocals.
Today, Portella performs solo or with Smith and other members of The Hooters.
Brian Quinn is best known as the lead guitarist and songwriter for the hugely popular Philadelphia band Octane and nationally known act Fosterchild (who was signed to Warner Brother抯 ILG Records). Quinn has toured with many bands and artists over the years, including Godsmack, Zakk Wylde, Michael Allman, Warren Haynes, and more. He is currently writing with his new project the Brian Quinn Band and performing session work with well known artists.
