Wolf Trap Announces 2014 Summer Season
Vienna, VA. (Top40 Charts) Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts announces the complete schedule of shows in its highly anticipated 2014 Summer season. "We are proud to present an extraordinary season filled with truly iconic artists," said Arvind Manocha, Wolf Trap Foundation President and CEO. "Wolf Trap is the only place in the country where you can find Yo-Yo Ma, Robyn + Röyksopp, Lionel Richie, The Band Perry, and Josh Groban on the same season calendar, and that's worth celebrating. Our patrons have a dizzying array of options to choose from, and we look forward to sharing many amazing days and nights of music together at America's only National Park for the Performing Arts."

This year's roster includes debuts by Lionel Richie and CeeLo Green in a two-night stand of blockbuster for the All the Hits All Night Long tour; former Hootie & the Blowfish front man, turned country singer Darius Rucker; pop-rock singer-songwriters Sarah McLachlan and Sara Bareilles; progressive bluegrass trio Nickel Creek; Sugarland lead singer Jennifer Nettles; Scandinavian electronic artists Robyn + Röyksopp; pop-rock quartet The Fray; country music trio The Band Perry; Comedy Central star Jim Gaffigan; and Seattle-based indie rockers Band of Horses.

Returning audience favorites include rock 'n' roll legend Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band; classical crossover singers Sarah Brightman and Josh Groban; Motown diva Diana Ross; folk-rock supergroups Crosby, Stills & Nash, Daryl Hall & John Oates, and Boston; alternative rockers the Counting Crows; and chart-topping pop-rockers Gavin DeGraw and Matt Nathanson.

Fine arts highlights include a new Wolf Trap Opera production of Bizet's Carmen; The National Symphony Orchestra with appearances by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, innovative pop-pianist Ben Folds, Glee star Matthew Morrison, folk singer Mary Chapin Carpenter, and multimedia presentations of Pixar in Concert and 2001: A Space Odyssey. The Philadelphia Orchestra will also be featured in its only metro D.C. area performance. An expanded dance series features Pilobolus, Noche Flamenca, the final D.C. appearance of the Trey McIntyre Project, and a Wolf Trap commission by Pacific Northwest Ballet. Jazz programming includes Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and Pat Metheny with fellow Grammy-winning artist Bruce Hornsby.

Wolf Trap's Summer 2014 season is completed by dozens of family-friendly events with performances by The Fresh Beat Band Live in Concert!; Sing-A-Longs with Grease and Sound of Music; a live theatrical production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast; and Jungle Fantasy, an acrobatic animalistic adventure by Cirque Dreams. In addition, Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods presents a varied range of acts that showcase music, dance, puppetry, and storytelling.
