New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Chicago baroque pop-rock n roll group Soft Candy is back on the scene with their full-length debut LP, "The Lüvrs & The H8ers," which they have self-released with a vinyl run. Having previously released music on Chicago's legendary underground rock label HoZac Records, this group of vintage-inspired rockers is helmed by pianist and vocalist Alex Rowney and features a rotating cast of local musicians. Soft Candy's sound is a 21st century amalgamation of retro influences, from The Beatles and Johann Sebastian Bach, to Bowie, Bolan, and the Brian Jonestown Massacre.
Soft Candy is celebrating the release of "The Lüvrs & The H8ers" with a record release show at Wild Prairie, a new record and vintage clothing store located at 1109 N Western Ave (just up the street from The Empty Bottle), on Saturday, February 17. It's free to get in, and drinks and vegan food will be provided. Arrive at 4, and get ready to disappear into a purple haze with Soft Candy when they play at 4:20. You can find the Facebook event here. To preview the album tracks visit their website at softcandytheband.com
What the press has to say about Soft Candy...
"The work of Soft Candy finds its mastery in merging musical contradictions. The Chicago-based band has conveyed innate levels of artistic craftsmanship through blending classic sonic elements of rock and roll with psychedelic dreaminess, creating a distinctive sound that is purely euphonious." - Amplify
"Oh, if only this album could continue for an eternity! Soft Candy are certainly a band to watch out for, I'm sure we'll be seeing more of them in the near future. If out of this world American popsike tickles your fancy, do us a favour and give Soft Candy a listen!" - Moof Magazine No. 1
