Colombian Gregorio Uribe, A Rising Star In NYC's Latin Music Scene, Releases His Debut Album
New York, NY (Top40 Charts / Gregorio Uribe Official Website) Colombian singer-songwriter Gregorio Uribe has quickly established himself as a rising force in NYC's Latin music scene and now presents his much anticipated debut album, Pluma y Vino, literally translated as Pen and Wine. He offers up a contemplative and sometimes playful collection of songs that speak of love and romance and shed light on social injustice rooted in his homeland. His poetic lyrics and simple melodies are at once nostalgic and sweet, and are nested beautifully in the traditional Colombian rhythms of Cumbia, Currulao and Bolero, to name a few. Pluma y Vino, driven by Gregorio's soothing vocals and his warm guitar sound, takes the listener through a range of colors and human emotion, accentuated with accordion melodies, cello arrangements, sinuous percussion and soaring clarinet solos. Gregorio's lyrics evoke profound images that are buoyed by his remarkable musical compositions, showcasing his strength as both poet and a musician, that come together to create and extraordinary musical experience. This album was made possible through contributions from Gregorio's loyal fans. A percentage of this album's sales will go towards Fundacion Alma, a non-profit with which Gregorio works closely to promote arts education for disadvantaged children in Latin America. The album-release show will take place at Regattabar in Boston on January 20th and at Blue Note in NYC on January 22nd, one of the worlds most famous jazz clubs.

More about Gregorio
Gregorio Uribe was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. At the age of 17, he decided to explore different Latin music genres by backpacking and performing in streets, buses and beaches around South America. After this experience, Gregorio earned his Summa Cum Laude degree at Berklee College Of Music in Boston where he was influenced by Jazz arranging, which induced him to create a very unique project: The Gregorio Uribe Big Band: a 16-piece musical experience that blends Afro-Colombian rhythms with funk grooves and powerful big band arrangements.

His energetic and innovative approach to the music of his country has led him to share the stage with such renowned artists as Grammy-winners Ruben Blades and Carlos Vives and to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.Gregorio has been interviewed by CNN, NY1, New York Daily News and Univision as well as by some of the most prestigious press in Colombia, such as El Tiempo (Colombia's largest newspaper) and Jet Set Magazine. Gregorio performs with his big band the first Thursday of every month at Zinc Bar in the heart of the Greenwich Village in New York City, filling up the place to a capacity the fire marshal may not approve of! The band has performed at the Rhode Island State House, Gloria Estefan's Bongos Cafe in Miami, Regattabar in Boston and in some of New York City's most renowned venues includingHighline Ballroom, SOB's, Iridium Jazz Club, The Prospect Park Bandshell and Le Poisson Rouge. Their first single Caribe Contigo was featured for four weeks on MTV Tr3s both in the US and in the UK. For more information please visit www.gregoriouribe.com
