Elvis Gold Record, Grammy Awards of Legendary Record Producer Ethel Gabriel to be Sold at Auction

MOUNT BETHEL, PA. (Top40 Charts/ Teel Auctions) - Music memorabilia and other belongings of Ethel Gabriel, the first woman record producer in American pop music, will be sold at auction on Tues., January 23 at Teel Auctions' gallery in Mt. Bethel, Pa.

The gold records are for record albums featuring Elvis Presley, Perry Como, Al Hirt, Roger Whitaker, Henry Mancini and others. The Grammy award is for recordings by Tommy Dorsey and Frank Sinatra.

Other items include thousands of records from RCA and other record labels where Mrs. Gabriel worked as a producer and record executive, along with books, jewelry, furniture and other belongings. One unusual highlight is a ceramic dog in the likeness of the "His Master's Voice," the mascot of RCA records.

Mrs. Gabriel served as A&R representative for singers Perry Como, Cleo Laine and Roger Whitaker. She helmed RCA's "Pure Gold" record line, which issued recordings by Dolly Parton, Jim Reeves, Henry Mancini, Perry Como, Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra, Peter Nero, Neil Sedaka, Frank Sinatra with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and many other artists.

Mrs. Gabriel was instrumental in kicking off the mambo craze in the United States by her work on the record "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White," by Perez Prado, a number-one hit record for 10 weeks in 1955.

Mrs. Gabriel is a graduate of Temple and Columbia Universities who spent most of her career in New York City. She is the wife of the late Gus Gabriel, and resides in the Pocono region of Pennsylvania.
