New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) Forty years after Elvis Presley's legendary June 1972 performances at NYC's Madison
Square Garden, long-awaited video footage has made its grand debut via RollingStone.com. Watch the explosive, karate-chopping performance of show climax "
Suspicious Minds" here: https://bit.ly/TqN30K
Captured on a hand-held camera by a tenacious fan with a knockout view, the footage is part of an hour-long performance making its debut on 'Prince From Another Planet: 40th Anniversary Edition.' This deluxe 2-CD+DVD box set will be available everywhere November 13th through RCA/Legacy, a division of Sony
Music Entertainment. Along with never-before-seen concert footage, the package also includes rare photos and a mini-documentary, including interviews with Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group guitarist, MSG attendee, and package liner notes writer), Jerry Schilling (Elvis' longtime friend), and longtime TCB Band members. The DVD also features Presley's boisterous 20-minute press conference that took place before the shows at MSG.
Elvis' first and only public New York City performances, the MSG shows were hailed as "a stone gas" by Billboard, who noted, "Elvis' voice has become richer and more resonant than before." The NY Times said the concerts proved Elvis was " a champion, the only one in his class" and Bob Christgau in the Village Voice noted the communal "rapture" enveloping the building that night.
