LOS ANGELES (60s music news website) - Paul Atkinson, who played guitar in a British invasion band, the Zombies, and later became a successful music industry executive, has died. He was 58. Atkinson died last Thursday at the UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center after a long battle with liver and kidney disease, publicist Susan Clary said. Atkinson started his music career with the Zombies, which had hits in the 1960s with She's Not There and Time of the Season. He went on to work as a music executive, signing Abba, Bruce Hornsby, Mr. Mister, Michael Penn, Judas Priest and Patty Smyth.
