New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The expectations continue to build as Univision Network's "Premio Lo Nuestro a la Música Latina" (PLN) announces two new musical performances for its Thursday, February 18th broadcast starting at 7 p.m. ET/PT (6 p.m. Central) LIVE from the American Airlines Arena.
In what is sure to be an electrifying highlight of the evening,
Pitbull will open the show with popular American R&B music singer/songwriter
Robin Thicke and Joe Perry, lead guitarist of the renowned American rock band Aerosmith, to perform the single "Bad Men" from the stage of the longest-running tribute to Latin music and the most popular music awards program among Hispanics in the U.S., "Premio Lo Nuestro."
To celebrate internationally renowned singer and composer
Carlos Vives receiving this year's prestigious "Premio Lo Nuestro a la Excelencia" award, he will fuse onstage with top Colombian artists and soccer players for a memorable performance, including Juan
Pablo Ángel, J Balvin,
Jorge Celedón, ChocQuibTown, Silvestre Dangond, Fonseca, Juanes, Maluma, Faryd Mondragón,
Carlos "El Pibe" Valderrama,
Mario Alberto Yepes, and former Miss Universe Paulina Vega.
Also receiving top honors for her career will be the Mexican Regional singer Paquita la del Barrio, who will be recognized for almost half a century of stellar performances with the "Premio a la Trayectoria" musical award.
Celebrities presenting the honors throughout the ceremony are nominees of the night: Ha*Ash, who are nominated for Group or Duo of the Year under the Pop/Rock category; Sofía Reyes, nominated for Best New Artist in general category; Régulo Caro, who is nominated for Song of the Year in Regional Mexican category; and René Camacho of La Arrolladora Banda el Limón, the band is nominated for Band Artist of the Year and Group or Duo the Year under the Regional Mexican category; and multiple TV personalities, such as, actor
Daniel Arenas, actresses Jackie Bracamontes and Marlene Favela, actors and singers
Sandra Echevarría and
Diego Boneta, former Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez, as well as Univision show hosts Chiquinquirá Delgado and Alejandra Espinoza and radio hosts El Bueno, La Mala y El Feo and Raúl Brindis.
Galilea Montijo and Arath de la Torre will preside over the celebration and ceremony, which will recognize music artists in five categories: general, pop, tropical, Mexican regional, and urban.
Among the headliners previously announced to perform at the top-rated annual event will be recently-reunited duo Sin Bandera, Banda los Recoditos, Calibre 50, Chino y Nacho, Chiquis, CNCO, Farruko, Gente de Zona, Gerardo Ortiz,
Gloria Trevi,
Jesse & Joy, Luis Coronel, Maluma, Marc Anthony,
Prince Royce, Thalía, Wisín, Yandel, and Zion & Lennox.
The PLN celebration will start at 7 p.m. ET/PT (6 p.m. Central) with nominees, performers and other stars walking down the magenta carpet during pre-show "Noche de Estrellas" (Night of Stars) hosted by Chiquinquirá Delgado, Raúl de Molina, Tony Dandrades, Daniela Di Giacomo, and
William Valdés.
In addition, "Noche de Estrellas" and "Premio Lo Nuestro" will be available via Univision Now, UCI's live streaming service of the Univision Network available on iOS, Android and the web.
The nominees are the artists with the Top 500 Latin songs from
September 2014 through August 2015, and the winners were selected by fans, who voted at PremioLoNuestro.com.
