San Francisco, CA (Top40 Charts/ 8tracks) 8tracks, an internet radio network curated by people, and Sonos, the leading manufacturer of wireless HiFi systems, today announced a partnership that allows Sonos customers to stream 8tracks' curated playlists through the Sonos music management app. Customers will be able to listen to radio-style playlists for any mood or occasion, from every genre and country, putting the best music discovery experience on the internet into every room of the home.
In celebration of the launch, 8tracks and Sonos are hosting the "House Party Mix Challenge" - a competition to create the ultimate house party mix. Listeners are invited to create their best mix for a house party, tailored to their party area of choice - living room, bedroom or backyard. Listeners vote for the best mix, and winners from each category will receive a pair of SONOS PLAY:3 wireless music systems.
"More than 90% of Americans listen to radio each week, and internet radio is steadily assuming the mantle as the dominant form of music consumption in general," noted
David Porter, 8tracks CEO. "We're thrilled to partner with Sonos to offer 8tracks throughout the home, making it easier than ever for people to enjoy 8tracks' unique approach to internet radio."
8tracks differs from other popular online music services: unlike Pandora's algorithmic approach or Songza's editorial approach, 8tracks' radio-style playlists are curated by a subset (roughly 1%) of its listeners — people who make mixes for the love of music and the respect of devoted listeners. As a result, 8tracks offers to listeners unmatched selection, less repetition, and the best source of music discovery.
8tracks is free and available on iOS, Android, and Windows phones and on the web at www.8tracks.com.
