New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Pop singer-songwriter, Alicia Rae released a powerful and heart-rending single entitled "Little Warrior". The song was written in honor of Alicia's friend, a strong-willed 10 year-old girl who lost her battle with leukemia. "Little Warrior" is now available for download on iTunes and for streaming on Spotify. A portion of the sales will be donated to CureSearch for Children's Cancer.
Produced by Chris Rafetto, "Little Warrior" opens with the melodious sound of a piano and eases right into Alicia Rae's soothing voice. The compelling lyrics paint an emotional story and carry the listener through a journey of character, soul, humanity and bravery. "It is time for battle, grab your sword, grip your shield tight now," Alicia sings suggesting a war against childhood cancer and the courage, nobility and determination it takes to face such a battle. This emotion is carried to the climax of the song over sincere guitar instrumentation and an encouraging chorus. "I wrote the song a few years ago after my friend Maddie's leukemia returned for the fifth time. She was diagnosed at the age of three and the cancer returned every year," Alicia explains. "She passed away last October at the age of 10. When I wrote the song, I wanted it to give her hope; to not give up and to stay young and innocent." The single will leave listeners with that same sense of hope as Alicia chants, "fight on, fight on, little warrior."
In 2009, Alicia Rae began teaching herself to play the guitar, and after some convincing from loved ones, she took the stage and discovered her voice. Since then, Alicia has grown as a musician and more importantly as an individual. She is stronger and more confident in herself, allowing those qualities to be carried over into other aspects of her life. Recently, Alicia has been using her voice to raise awareness on childhood cancer. She is actively involved in community fundraising and is a volunteer at a children's hospital in DC.
