Award-Winning Danish-Punjabi Singer Anita Lerche To Perform At 10th Anniversary desiFEST 2016 In Toronto
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Award-winning Danish-Punjabi singer-songwriter, composer, actress, Anita Lerche, is scheduled to perform live in concert during desiFEST 2016, in Yonge-Dundas Square, downtown Toronto, on Saturday, May 28th, at approximately 7:25pm. Lerche's incomparable vocal talent and commanding stage presence has wowed audiences around the world. This will be her third performance at North America's leading outdoor South Asian music experience known as desiFEST; which is celebrating its 10th Anniversary. The desiFEST concert is free, runs from 10:00am to 10:00pm, and is billed as a family event.

"Anita is a wonderful example of a passionate artist, ambassador of the culture, and someone who has proven that hard work can lead to incredible success in the music business," says Sathish Bala, desiFEST founder. "Her story is something we want to share through desiFEST. That's why we love having Anita at desiFEST."

"I feel very honored and excited to perform at the 10th Anniversary of desiFEST 2016," states Anita Lerche. "I have performed at desiFEST before and had some of my best concert experiences...the amazing crowds and the outstanding professionalism of the event organizers. The festival is important because it unifies all corners of the South Asian community, bringing South Asian music to the mainstream. It is a perfect opportunity to showcase the great artistic South Asian talent from Canada and abroad in the heart of a beautiful city with a vibrant downtown...that IS Toronto."

Lerche is most passionate and renowned for her award-winning work in Punjabi and was the first non-Asian woman from the West to release an album in Punjabi. She won the MH1 Punjabi Music Award for Best Non-Resident Indian Female Debut. Vocally trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, Lerche has sung in a total of sixteen different languages. She keeps her instrument, her unique voice, in top form thanks to her vocal coach, GRAMMY Award-winning singer Darlene Koldenhoven. Lerche first visited India in 2005 and considers Punjab her second home. Now a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, she travels the world entertaining huge crowds with her unique and electrifying performances while promoting the Punjabi language, culture and music. In support of South Asian music and those artists aspiring to become involved, Lerche will also participate on the "Face The Music" panel at the desiFEST Music Industry Conference held in the George Vari Engineering and Computing Centre, on Friday, May 27th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Lerche's career has included many stellar accomplishments, including receiving a Danish World Music Award for "Maahiya - featuring Cheshire Cat", Popular Multilinguist Singer Award by Prof. Mohan Singh Foundation, and Rooh-E-Punjab Award (The Soul of Punjab) from the International Cultural Society Shamchurasi. The Punjabi University, Patiala, has recognized her grand work for Punjabi culture and language and the previous Indian Ambassador to Denmark, Ashok Kumar Attri, has named her as a Cultural Ambassador between Denmark and India. She was the Danish voice of Barbie in Toy Story 2 & Toy Story 3, as well as the Indian plane Ishani in Disney's Planes. And, she has performed her own Punjabi songs in the Danish version of Dancing with the Stars. Lerche is a truly versatile artist who has won the hearts of millions of fans.

"Sadke Punjab Ton" (released November 11, 2014) continues its popularity. Lerche's "Sadke Punjab Ton", "Sammi", and "Merea Ranjha" music videos have been viewed by more than 10 million music lovers on YouTube. She is planning to release her fourth solo album in June 2016 highlighting devotional Bhajans sung in Hindi with music that includes traditional Indian intruments fuzed with elements from New Age. The music tracks have been recorded in Punjab and Delhi, India, with the vocals recorded in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the entire album mastered at Capitol Records in Los Angeles, California. Lerche says, "I strongly feel that my new album is for the heart and soul and it gives you a sense of inner peace."
