New York, NY (Top40 Charts) In efforts to raise funding for COVID-19 relief efforts, Dhani and Olivia Harrison have launched "The Inner Light Challenge", through George Harrison's Material World Foundation, to help raise money for those most in need during the global coronavirus pandemic. BMG artists and songwriters already joining in and supporting the campaign include Ringo Starr, LP, Richard Marx, and John Legend, among a quickly growing list.

On March 26, the Harrison's presented a generous donation of $500,000 to a number of key charities that are providing much needed aid and care during the pandemic, including MusiCare's COVID-19 Foundation, Save the Children, and Doctors Without Borders. "The Inner Light Challenge" is asking people around the world to simply sing, play, hum, strum, paint, knit, chant, plant, pray or meditate a line, verse, or chorus from the Harrison-penned song 'The Inner Light' and post it to social media using the hashtag #innerlight2020. For every person that shares their own Inner Light moment on social media using the #innerlight2020 hashtag, the Material World Foundation will donate another one dollar (up to $100,000) to help those fighting or affected by the virus.

Olivia Harrison said: "These lyrics sung by George are a positive reminder to all of us who are isolating, in quarantine or respecting the request to shelter in place. Let's get and stay connected at this difficult time. There are things we can do to help and we invite you to share your Inner Light."

George Harrison founded the Material World Foundation in 1973, following the release of his acclaimed solo album Living in the Material World. Those interested in participating can learn more about the organization and social media challenge at https://www.materialworldfoundation.com

Earlier this year, BMG and Dark Horse Records announced a strategic partnership bringing together Harrison's legendary label alongside Ringo Starr's publishing, under the BMG umbrella.
