New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On October 2, singer/songwriter Brooke Annibale will release her fourth full-length studio album The
Simple Fear. A former Nashville resident now based in her hometown Pittsburgh, Annibale questions apprehension of the unknown future, basic life expectations, and the fear that those expectations might not be met. Today, she unveiled the second single from the new album "Alright," premiering exclusively on Wall Street Journal who called it "a fast-flowing tune, and annibale sings the warm melody in a soft, but determined, voice that gets a push from the rootsy twang of an electric guitar."
LISTEN: Brooke Annibale - "
Alright":
"I had a job at a coffee shop that was really wearing me down when I wrote this song," Annibale told WSJ's Eric Danton. "Between that and my music career, I would get so wrapped up in what other people thought or focus too much on what was not going right. I wrote this song as a reminder not only to myself, but to the people that I love to not get caught up in the small stuff that can build up. It's a pretty simple theory that is often easier said than done."
"I don't think I've ever recorded a song so overly optimitic before," she continued. "The basic premise of the lyrics are simple: even when we're having a tough day, or are frustrated with the place we are at in our lives, if we focus on the good, if we focus on giving and receiving love in some way, we'll be alright."
Recorded at The Smoakstack in Nashville with producer/engineer Justin March (Cold War Kids, Leagues,
Kelly Clarkson), The
Simple Fear boldly showcases Annibale's songs in a relevant, experimental, yet timeless exposition. The album's centerpiece lays in Annibale's subtle groove and alluring style encased in layers of beautiful strings, guitar, piano, and percussion. However, it's her magnetic voice, that smoldering and irresistible delivery, that draws you in.
Earmilk debuted the album's first single "Remind Me," calling it "one of Annibale's best. Evident, is her ability to build momentum and fully develop the sound while also keeping two feet on the ground, which is an especially rare encourter within her genre."
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Annibale's grandfather opened a music retail and live-sound business in the 1960's, that is still family-run today. Nurtured by an ever-present musical surrounding, Annibale started young, writing as early as 8 years old and taking up guitar as a teenager. She released her first album Memories in
Melody at age 17. She soon took her passion for songwriting and performing to Nashville where she recorded and released two more albums and two EPs over the course of six years: The Nashville EP (2006), The In Between (2008), Silence Worth Breaking (2011), and Words In Your Eyes EP (2013). With an impressive resume as an independent and entrepreneurial artist, her songs have appeared on TV over a dozen times with popular programs such as Pretty
Little Liars, One Tree Hill, and The Vampire Diaries.
